Ethan Couch – A new constitution.

Ethan Couch

The Ethan Couch case is causing a stir the world over as those who are not privileged are angered by the double standards in the case. Clearly if he had been an African-American, or similar, the excuses would be ignored and he would have started a lengthy sentence. As Mr. Bumble said in Oliver Twist the law is sometimes and Ass.

‘That is no excuse,” returned Mr. Brownlow. “You were present on the occasion of the destruction of these trinkets, and, indeed, are the more guilty of the two, in the eye of the law; for the law supposes that your wife acts under your direction.”

If the law supposes that,” said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, “the law is a ass — a idiot. If that’s the eye of the law, the law is a bachelor; and the worst I wish the law is, that his eye may be opened by experience — by experience.’

Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist

The Couch Constitution

Texas 2013

We hold these truths to be self-evident,

That all men are created equal,

Unless they have power, money and influence

If so they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,

That among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

They have the right to determine the law to their own ends

To ignore responsibility and to preserve their liberty.

That to secure these rights, courts are instituted among Men,

Deriving their just powers from the consent of the wealthy.

It is also a truth self-evident that the offspring of the aforesaid

Shall deny all responsibility for action and consequence and

Through due process of law this will be affirmed that

Affluenza be set down in judgment by the said judiciary

As a reasonable and legal recourse for action.
